Mercedes Diesel Claims

Many car manufacturers, including Mercedes, allegedly fitted “defeat” devices to cars from 2008-2018 to make their diesel engines appear cleaner and less polluting than they were. If this applies to you, we can help you claim compensation that is rightfully yours.

Mercedes are currently being investigated for allegedly fitting illegal emission defeat (or cheat) devices to thousands of their diesel cars and vans between 2007 and 2018.

The claims are made on behalf of people who have either leased or owned a Mercedes-Benz. Most claims could be worth between 70% – 75% of the purchase price of the vehicle.

In June 2018, the KBA, which is the German road vehicle authority, found that Daimler. a parent company of Mercedes, had used illegal software to alter diesel emissions levels. It had ordered the German motor giant to recall affected vehicles.

Defeat devices are designed to reduce emissions and to falsely pass regulatory checks. When the vehicle is put under certain “test conditions”, where emissions are reduced to pass certain regulatory checks, the “test conditions” do not reflect the real conditions. In fact the emissions are much higher and without the operation of the defeat devices, the vehicles would not pass the regulatory checks.
